What is Reiki
Reiki is an art of living that came to us from Japan. In 1922, its founder Mikao Usui went through a spiritual experience that changed him forever and gifted him with the ability to heal people using Reiki energy.
He spent the rest of his life developing his method, teaching it, training teachers, and caring for many people.

Our Reiki Lineage
The history of Reiki was influenced by several masters who contributed to the evolution of the method of Reiki healing.
Before his death in 1926, Mikao Usui had trained 20 of his students to teacher level. The method he had created requires developing a good level of energy perception before being able to apply it to perform treatments, which can take a few years. This method is still practiced by some of the lineages of Japan. It is focused on the spiritual evolution of the person who practices it.
Mikao Usui had entrusted the mission to Chujiro Hayashi, his youngest teacher who was also a doctor, to develop a method that focused more on the treatment of physical, emotional and mental conditions. His method created lineages in Japan, and in particular in the West.
It's through an American lady with Japanese roots, Hawayo Takata, that Reiki reached the North American continent. When visiting Japan, she was guided to Dr. Hayashi who treated her for a critical health condition from which she recovered within only a few months. She was so impressed that she underwent a complete training with him. Upon her return home to Hawaii, she began to treat many people and to teach. During the last 10 years of her life, she trained 22 teachers (masters). Mrs. Takata simplified Dr. Hayashi's method by adopting pre-defined positions (basic treatment). With this method, most people can deliver Reiki sessions very rapidly after receiving the training.
We have received the teachings of
Mrs. Takata from our teacher, Michelle Beauregard.
Michelle spent 22 years learning Reiki from Wanja Twan, one of Mrs. Takata's 22 Reiki Masters. They have both kept Mrs. Takata's teachings unchanged.

The precepts of Reiki
The precepts that come to us from Mikao Usui, form the basis of the teachings of Reiki and invite us to work on ourselves and improve our ability to live the present moment with more harmony and inner peace.
Just for today
I let go of anger
I let go of worry
I have gratitude for everything
I earn my living honestly
I am kind to everyone
The Principle of Reiki
The method that Mikao Usui and his closest students developed to transmit this ability to others involves an initiation. It could be described as tuning the student's system to the frequency of Reiki, like an antenna, enabling him/her to then channel the Universal Energy of Reiki. Another analogy is lighting the student's candle with the teacher's flame.
During a Reiki session, the receiver lies on a massage table with his clothes on. Le practitioner places his hands gently on specific positions of the receiver's body, and stays on each location for a few minutes. The positions cover the head, the chest, the abdomen and the back.
The human body has the innate power to heal itself. However, there are several factors in our current lifestyles and environment that can affect this ability. The effect of Reiki sessions can help restore your body's natural capabilities and balance. A simplified comparison would be like having your car battery depleted and needing a boost.
Regular work with Reiki energy promotes a gradual process of liberating the physical blockages and the conditionings that limit you, and also helps you evolve spiritually. This will help you experience more freedom and happiness. This process is happening continually, life being in perpetual evolution.
